St Edward's Catholic Academy

We urge all parents to support the wearing of St Edward’s School uniform. The wearing of uniform brings advantages for our pupils and for you, the parents.

  • White polo shirt
  • White and blue striped or checked dress or
  • Grey skirt or pinafore dress
  • Grey pleated culottes or
  • Black/grey tailored school trousers
  • Royal blue cardigan or sweatshirt
  • White or grey socks or grey/black tights

  • White polo shirt
  • Black or grey trousers
  • Royal blue sweatshirt or jumper
  • Grey or black socks

Sweatshirts, cardigans and polo shirts may be embellished with the school crest if you wish, but this is not a necessary part of the uniform.  We strongly recommend that you purchase plain, inexpensive jumpers without a logo online or from any supermarket, as we appreciate how quickly the children grow at this age...and how messy they can get each day at nursery!

Both boys and girls should wear sensible black footwear; not trainers, fashion shoes with heels or long or high boots. Sports logos on shoes are not allowed, or shoes that are made out of canvas or fabric material. Summer sandals should be black, brown or navy blue and fit securely with no open toes.

We encourage the wearing of sun caps to protect the head and neck during summer months. Blue crested ones are available, although other sensible styles are acceptable.

Other items of clothing with the school crest such as caps, fleece jackets and rainproof jackets are available from local suppliers. Whilst very practical and attractive, these are not a necessary part of the uniform. We do not insist on the school badge on items of clothing but if you wish to purchase them they can be found at Pupils Schoolwear in Swadlincote. Uniform may also be purchased from Schoolwear UK on their website:, where you can click on our school logo to see what items they have available.

We have a number of good quality used items which have been donated to school after being outgrown. Parents may wish to utilise these in exchange for a small donation.

No jewellery is to be worn other than a watch and a small cross or medal on a chain if wished. Any items worn are the child’s responsibility; the school is unable to accept responsibility for lost or damaged items. Plain stud earrings ONLY are allowed for pierced ears and these MUST be removed for ALL PE classes and for EVERY swimming lesson, otherwise your child will not be able to participate in that lesson. This will also apply to those who participate in our after school sports clubs.
Children are not allowed to wear nail varnish. Extreme hairstyles are also not permitted.
