In this lesson you will look at different people who have shown commitment to their communities, showing how ordinary people can do extraordinary things. They are:
Archbishop Oscar Romero, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, Martin Luther King, and Nitu, a girl from Bangladesh. Explore the commitment these people have to their communities and reflect on how this applies to your own lives. Read through their power points, make notes as you go thinking about the two bullet points below:
- Learn about people who show us what God is like through their actions.
- Know that people live out what they believe in, through their life and actions.
Write about how during our time at home we have witnessed ordinary people do extraordinary things, for example all NHS staff, teachers, emergency services, those who work in shops, delivery people etc. Think about your own family, how have you all become extraordinary people?
- Acts 28: 2 'The local people showed us extraordinary kindness, for they lit a fire and took us all in, since it was raining and cold.'
- 1 Thessalonians 5:15 'Always do what is best for each other and for everyone.'
