Ofsted Report

St Edward's Catholic Primary School received a second monitoring visit on 10th and 11th May 2016. The inspection was lead by Mrs Dorothy Bathgate. The report highlights the effective changes and rapid improvements made to teaching and learning across the school which were clearly evident during the two day inspection:

" At its best, teaching is exciting, precise and unambiguous because teachers have high expectations and share the intended learning clearly with pupils."

Notable improvements were acknowledged in Early Years where the classroom and outdoor areas were described as "vibrant learning environments", with children "rapidly becoming mature and independent learners who love to explore, investigate and share their learning."

Pupils' behaviour was also praised:

"Around the school pupils are polite, friendly and respectful. They say that they enjoy coming to school and this is reflected in their regular attendance. Pupils report that they enjoy good friendships because there is little intimidating behaviour and they feel safe at school. Pupils demonstrate a mature and responsible approach to school life through their good conduct and actions."

We are all extremely pleased that Ofsted recognised and acknowledged the significant changes and ongoing improvements which have been made to our school.
